Jürgen Waechtler is an aviation expert with over 40 years of experience in many senior management positions in the aviation industry.
He has recently retired as Director, Airport Operation at Hamburg Airport where he was responsible for, among other areas, Aviation related strategy definition, the development of terminal and airside infrastructure, safety management and passenger services. He also focussed on implementation of European requirements on the Rights of Persons with Reduced Mobility.
Jürgen’s expertise in safe and efficient airport operations includes emergency management, ramp management, safety management, security as well as cargo- and ground handling and all aspects of terminal operation and passenger services.
His comprehensive experience enables him to deal with PRM issues efficiently as well as to adapt easily to particular requirements.
Jürgen has an up-to-date knowledge of Air Traffic Services and is familiar with international and national standards and recommendations (e.g. ICAO, IATA, ECAC, EASA etc.) and various other documents related to the aviation sector.
He has served as Chairman of the Facilitation and Customer Services Committee for ACI (Airports Council International) and is a past Chairman of the Facilitation and Customer Services Committee for ACI Europe.
He is a Member of the ECAC (European Civil Aviation Conference) Facilitation Sub-group on the transport of persons with reduced mobility.
