Rail transport

The European Regulation 1371/2007 of 23 October 2007 on rail passengers’ rights and obligations (link to doc.) establishes rules as regard to (among others) the protection of, and the assistance to, disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility.


Chapter V includes articles about:

  • Accessibility
  • Assistance at railway stations
  • Assistance on board
  • Conditions of the provision of assistance
  • Compensation in respect of mobility equipment


Service Quality Standards, to be defined by the Railway undertakings, shall also refer to  “Assistance provided to disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility”  (Annex III).
